Installation, testing and commissioning of a Battery Energy Storage System

The objective of the upgrade was to introduce Lithium Battery Storage Technologies into the Carnarvon Power Station to augment the town solar system due to lack of output during poor weather conditions. Civil works followed by foundation construction formed a large component of this project. Future Power WA mobilized its own plant and staff to complete this stage of the project meeting all scheduled deadlines. Future Power WA then installed two Lishen supplied battery storage systems including one power control unit, two 1MVA transformers and one RMU system.

All underground HV and LV cables were supplied and installed by Future Power. This was a turnkey project for Future Power that took planning and a clear understanding of the substation network to complete without interfering with the daily operations of Mungullah Power Station.  All safety and operational requirements were successfully met during this project.  The project handover deadline was also achieved.
